Throughout the world, artists and music fans alike have discovered that they can have the most meaningful musical experiences by hosting an artist in their home. House concerts are more than a house party - they are an intimate music listening event. Hosts open up their homes, set up a concert style environment and the artist performs to an appreciative, attentive audience, much like they would at a theater, but in this case the artist is more accessible - the music is performed up close and personal.
Most hosts will invite a selected group of friends or fellow music lovers and often throw a potluck or cocktail party before the show. An artist generally plays for about an hour and half, sells merchandise afterward and guests compensate the artist for her work by contributing a donation or a set show price (usually $10-20).
